Biography
Xiomara Torres, born on July 18, 1989, in Guapi, Cauca, is a renowned singer and interpreter of music from the southern Colombian Pacific. She recently became a Latin Grammy winner for her participation in Los Nuevos Canticuentos, a children's song project featuring artists such as Nidia Góngora, Carlos Vives, and other prominent figures in Colombian music.
She currently resides in New York, where she is one of the most sought-after vocalists, performing regularly in Europe and New York. Xiomara leads her own projects performing folkloric Pacific Coast music. She is the new singer for the Afro-Peruvian fusion group Festejation. Xiomara performs with the Pacific Coast fusion ensemble Suena Cimarrón, based in Philadelphia. She is also the lead vocalist for the fusion group Pixvae in France, touring frequently with them.
She won the "La Voz del Mar" competition in Juanchaco, which led her to Cali in 2011 and later inspired the title of her debut album. In 2022, she released her debut album, respectively titled La Voz del Mar, which topped charts and gained international attention.
